Urbanista Malibu features solar cell on its bluetooth speaker
Swedish brand Urbanista has unveiled Malibu, a Bluetooth speaker that charges itself using its built-in solar cell. The self-charging wireless speaker can play music day and night, thanks to its unlimited charge and as claimed by the lifestyle audio brand. It powers itself whenever exposed to both indoor and outdoor light, or as long as there is a light source available, and Urbanista Malibu may just take home the crown for the world’s first solar charging wireless speaker with integrated solar cell technology named Powerfoyle.
On display at IFA 2023, Urbanista Malibu is crafted from recycled plastic and fabric. The combination of the materials makes the self-charging Bluetooth speaker able to withstand water, sand, dust, dirt, and various environmental conditions and have a sturdy build. Urbanista has collaborated with Exeger for its Powerfoyle technology, a self-powered device that can ‘harvest all forms of light and convert it into energy,’ as stated by Exeger. Installing this technology to the wireless speaker can make Urbanista Malibu never run out of charge.

Self-charging wireless speaker regardless of light conditions
Urbanista Malibu also comes with its own app where users can customize the sound quality of the self-charging Bluetooth speaker. Urbanista states that Malibu comes with a full-day battery reserve, ensuring that the user can always use it regardless of lighting conditions. The Bluetooth speaker can connect to up to two devices simultaneously with its Stereo Link function.
Desert Gray and Midnight Black are the leading colors for Urbanista Malibu. The semi-circular shape of the Bluetooth speaker makes it easier to hold in hand, and Urbanista also includes a lanyard for convenient carrying by wrapping it around your wrist. The solar cell, powered by Exeger’s Powerfoyle, covers almost all of the surface area of the Malibu to ensure it always gets charged. Urbanista says Malibu will be available worldwide by late September 2023.
