People in Pakistan considering a shift to solar energy now have a great opportunity to purchase imported solar modules due to a significant decrease in prices. Solar panels of all grades are experiencing price reductions, providing a viable option for individuals amidst high power tariffs and the threat of prolonged power outages. The drop in prices is attributed to the strengthening of the local currency against the US dollar.
With the ongoing decrease in prices, the demand for solar panels is on the rise. For instance, the price of a 160W solar panel has decreased by Rs4,000-Rs4,500, reaching approximately Rs11,000, compared to its previous price of around Rs15,000. Larger solar panels are also available in the market within the range of Rs35,000 to Rs45,000, a considerable decrease from the inflated price of Rs70,000.
Solar power systems are gaining popularity as renewable energy sources with minimal greenhouse emissions, contributing to climate change mitigation and a reduced carbon footprint in electricity production. Additionally, operational and maintenance costs are lower than traditional energy sources, encouraging a shift away from dependence on imported fossil fuels.
The Pakistani government is actively implementing various solar projects and initiatives to harness solar energy. The country’s favorable geographical location ensures abundant sunlight throughout the year, further supporting the adoption of solar power.
